Toni Morrison's Life
Toni Morrison was born on February 18th, 1931 in Lorain, Ohio and was the second child out of the four. She grow up in a black neighborhood and enjoyed reading about everything. Her father had told her many folk tales which included African American heritage. In 1949, Morrison went to Howard University which was the most popular black people college. Then in 1953, she went to Cornell University after finishing her Bachelor of Arts degree in English. After attending Cornell University she got a Masters of Arts degree in English. Morrison at that moment taught English in Texas from 1955 to 1957. Later she went back to Howard University to attain an involvement of the Alpha Kappa sorority. When she was at Howard University she met Harold Morrison a Jamaican architect who she married. This did not last long because she ended up having a divorce with two children. Morrison moved to Syracuse and worked in the English department. Morrison then wrote her first novel The Bluest Eye in 1970 and it had gone on Oprah’s Book Club in 2000. Soon after she had started to write many other books and won some awards for them. She has taught at many different educational places and now is a part of the National Magazine.
